I only have 10 days to go in this project – or perhaps none if the world ends today, according the Mayan prophecy, which today’s design is inspired by.
Today is a very exciting one for me – my husband and I settle and move into our first house! So to celebrate us moving into our own ‘castle’ I built a sand castle for todays design.
A bit of an abstract one today, playing with the number forms.
A couple of months ago my Grandma moved into a rest home, and while helping to clean out her house I found one of her old recipe books being thrown away. I saved it and found this Christmas Cake recipe with a blank page beside it, so thought I’d use this for todays design – a recipe of the date called ‘Daily Surprise’.
I used brown string wound around wooden skewers to create the type for todays design, which I think worked quite well. Plus the finish line for this project is fast approaching, with only 2 weeks to go now!
It’s my dads birthday today, so I’ve incorporated some of his favourite things into todays design. Happy Birthday dad!!!
Todays type is made out of some kiwiana bits and pieces: flax, chocolate fish, gumboots, a lamington, kiwifruit, weetbix, jandals, a fern frond, a swandri and a pukeko.
Including today, there are only 12 days until Christmas, which reminded me of the “12 Days of Christmas” song. So inspired by that I’ve designed a typographic partridge in a pear tree.
I’m only just starting to get into the Christmas spirit now, so todays lettering is made out of tinsel (pipe cleaners).
I remember when 11/11/11 came around last year and I was thinking about this project, with this day in mind. It’s come so fast, and this won’t happen again for close to another century now, so here’s a simple repeating pattern for 12/12/12.
