Todays type is made out of some kiwiana bits and pieces: flax, chocolate fish, gumboots, a lamington, kiwifruit, weetbix, jandals, a fern frond, a swandri and a pukeko.
Today is National Jandal Day in New Zealand, Surf Life Saving’s annual appeal. So inspired by this I carved out the bottom of a pair of jandals and took this photo of the footprints at the beach today.
I’m in Napier today, doing the swim leg of a team triathlon, IronMaori, a half ironman, which I’m excited and nervous about. We competed last year and came second in the mixed teams, so are going for gold today. Using this as inspiration I’ve created some bike typography out of the bike my cyclist will be riding. Plus, being December it’s the last month of this project – only 30 days to go!
Today is a very important day – it’s my husband Raymond’s birthday! He’s been so supportive of me and forever helpful throughout this whole project, and I couldn’t have done it without him. He also knows I love cards and often buys me the most amazing pop-up, paper cut cards. So inspired by this here’s a special card I made just for him (although with a complete lack of time to do anything intricate lately it’s unfortunately quite basic, but I hope he still likes it). Happy birthday my darling Raymond! xx
